California Pear Update June 6, 2023

California Bartlett pears are approximately 7 weeks away from harvest.  Scully Packing Company is expecting a good crop with high quality and volumes very similar to year’s pack.   California experienced a late bloom in all districts, which will translate into later than normal harvest timing.  The weather post-bloom has been very good and we are expecting this year’s quality to be exceptional.  Scully Packing Company expects to begin packing on the following dates:

Sacramento District Bartletts: July 24 (sometime this week)

Red Crimson: August 7 – 10

Golden Bosc: August 7

We estimate Mountain Bartlett pears will be available the week of August 14th.

Scully Packing Company expects to account for approximately 40% of the California Bartlett pack this year.  We grow pears in all three California districts and handle the crops of about twenty of the finest pear growers in California.  We offer full range of varietals including – Bartletts, Golden Bosc, Red Crimsons, Hailey Reds, Rosi Reds, French Butter, Seckels, Forelles, and Organic Bartletts and Organic Golden Bosc.
